West Coast singer-songwriter Elliott Peck is premiering her brand-new song "Out Sailing" exclusively for readers of The Boot. With a powerful voice and stark lyricism, Peck brings a quiet intensity to the brooding, tender "Out Sailing." It's a song that explores the endlessly complicated experience of trying to figure out how to find a silver lining in even the worst experiences.
"It's about turning a tragedy into a life lesson," Peck tells The Boot, "and despite the grief it may have caused, not being sorry it happened. "Out Sailing" expresses how difficult examples can be our best teacher."
"Out Sailing" will appear on Peck's forthcoming full-length debut album, aptly titled Further From the Storm. Blending Americana, country, and blues, the album was produced by Karl Derfler, who is known for his work with Tom Waits and the Dave Matthews Band.
Born in Michigan, Peck has honed her sound on stages in California and beyond, sharing bills with icons including Bonnie Raitt. She's also performed as a vocalist alongside Phil Lesh and Bob Weir, among others.
Further From the Storm is due out on Oct. 19. Readers can visit ElliottPeck.com to learn more about the artist, her tour plans and her forthcoming album.
