JamBase: Cris Jacobs Discusses Love Of Grateful Dead, Parenthood & More On ‘No Simple Road’ Podcast

Singer-songwriter Cris Jacobs appears on the latest episode of the No Simple Road, a podcast within the Osiris Media network. Jacobs talks about his love of the Grateful Dead, songwriting, parenthood and additional topics with the No Simple Road crew.

The conversation began with a discussion of how he first started playing music at age 15. Cris explained his parents were heavy into the Grateful Dead, a passion that they passed down to him. Jacobs shared a story of a bet he had with his father about the Dead that Cris wound up losing. The Baltimore-native recently performed with Phil Lesh and detailed the story of bringing his dad to the gig.

On Friday, Cris Jacobs will release a new studio album entitled Color Where You Are and he talked about the genesis of the LP with the No Simple Road crew. He explained how he writes music and how he deals with losing “the muse” at times, his intention of painting “an overall picture that rushes over the listener.” Another subject the host and their guest dived into was Jacobs’ blues influence. Cris also dived into his approach to fatherhood as the dad of a young daughter. Listen to the entire episode below:
