Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events and activities around the Carson City region to help the next three days breeze by. On Friday, Muscle Powered will host a morning walk at the Carson City Multi-Use Path at 8 a.m. And there's coin press demonstrations at the Nevada State Museum.
Virginia City’s Redgrass Americana Festival runs through Friday and Saturday featuring live music, entertainment and food and beverages. A history talk about the Mormon Station will be held at Mormon Station Park in Genoa from 12 to 12:30 p.m.
Heading into the evening, the Carson Fly Fishing Club hosts its three-day Introductory Fly-Fishing Academy from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Senior Follies will perform Under the Big Top variety show inside the Carson City Community Center at 7 p.m. Always Patsy Cline kicks off at the Carson Valley Improvement Club Hall in Minden to transition into a jam-packed weekend.
On Saturday, the Capital City Kid’s Triathlon takes place at the Carson City Aquatic Facility. The Flying Pig Indoor Flea Market returns to the Fuji Park Exhibit Hall from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. A geology hike at Kings Canyon Trailhead runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m..
The Carson City Downtown Revival Car Show brings classic rides from all makes and models to 101 N. Carson Street. The fifth annual Sassabration Parade in Carson City with tasty food and dozens of vendors. A history talk about the California Trail takes place at Mormon Station Park from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Live music and spooky history will pack Carson City throughout the night. The Mother Hips headline the Levitt AMP outdoor music series. The Carson City Ghost Walk returns to McFadden Plaza from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
On Sunday, Muscle Powered hosts its Sunday bike ride from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Fremont Elementary School. A vintage steam train in Virginia City runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A grigliate pizza class at Sierra Chef in Genoa is available for interested participants. A follow up performance by The Senior Follies keeps the events coming with much more in store!

— Levitt AMP Carson City: The Mother Hips presented by the Change Companies. 7 to 10 p.m. at the Change Companies Outdoor Amphitheater, 449 W. King Street. In 1990, Tim Bluhm and Greg Loiacono of the Mother Hips found themselves living in the same house, teaching one another guitar chords. In 1993, they released their debut album, and twenty-five years later, in 2018, The Mother Hips releases their most ambitions album: “Chorus.” they showed that the longstanding rock band could still easily create new, unconventional, and meaningful music for their listeners. The guitarist and vocalist for the band, Tim Bluhm, explains that making music meaningful is important to him: “I'm trying to make music that has a spiritual aspect…an emotional experience that you might not even know is happening because it's surrounded by a loud rock band.”
